EVENT DETAILS

I'm not running the event this year.

During dinner everyone chooses an artisan ceramic bowl made by  ceramics classes to take home with them as a reminder that their participation helped ease someone's hunger.  All the proceeds benefit the Anne Arundel County Food Bank.

SPONSORS

Scroll below to see the list of sponsors and soups.  Scroll over the logo to see what they sponsored.

Art teacher John Hartom initiated the project in 1990-91 when he joined a drive to give funds to the Michigan community.  His idea was to organize a charitable event to give artists and art students a way to make a personal difference.  Today Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger. The basic premise is simple: Potters and other craftspeople, educators and others work with the community to create handcrafted bowls. Guests are invited to a simple meal of soup and bread. In exchange for a cash donation, guests are asked to keep a bowl as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world. The money raised is donated to an organization working to end hunger and food insecurity.  For more information go to www.emptybowls.net.
